Each year, Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters hosts three signature events that highlight the important work of the agency while celebrating all that still needs to be accomplished.
The Rodman Ride for Kids
The Rodman Ride for Kids, a matching gift charity, happens each year in the fall. Over 1,000 riders, "ride for kid's sake" for various charities across the Commonwealth, all dedicated to improving the lives of children in need. Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters' team boasts nearly 75 riders, who raise critical funds all while having a day of fun on Massachusetts' South Shore.
Each December, friends of the Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters community come together to celebrate the critical work of the agency and hear directly from the children, adults with disabilities and volunteers in our program about the impact that the agency has had on their lives. The event is graciously hosted by Longwood Events.
A night of fun, festive and fabulous, the annual gala is a night to be remembered! Each spring, members of our community join in celebrating the work of the agency while raising critical funds that keep the agency afloat. The night features participant testimonials, a live and silent auction and a night that captures the essence and spirit of the agency's work.
Now in its 17th year, Yom Sport, coordinated by JBBBS, is an annual sports day for adults with disabilities. The day provides volunteers and athletes from throughout the Greater Boston community an opportunity to participate in a variety of sporting events. Yom Sport serves many purposes which include a place to make new friends, raise awareness, a chance to see similarities among people with different abilities, and a unique opportunity to gain a new perspective on one's own life. It is also a way for our community to reach out to unaffiliated Jewish adults with disabilities who live in residential programs; to connect them with our community; and to make it possible – and interesting - for them to participate in the other activities, programs and services that our community offers. Most importantly, the day is about having fun! The event draws a crowd of about 300.
