Dear Friends,

Who could have dreamt two months ago that our worlds would be turned upside down?  But as the cases of COVID-19 continue to rise in Massachusetts, let alone nationwide, it goes without saying that this is a particularly anxious time for all of us: our staff, clients, families, volunteers, program participants and donors.

Yet, this is also a time when it is so critical to stay connected in our relationships – friends, families and mentors – in order to sustain and nurture ourselves. And this is also precisely the time when it is even more important for JBBBS to continue to provide the empathetic, holistic clinical match support that our clients and volunteers have long expected and received. JBBBS knows first-hand the impact of one-to-one relationships and how critical these relationships will be right now during this time of uncertainty and stress for so many.

Reflecting these times, we have suspended our monthly Friend2Friend MAGIC groups through the end of the month, and sadly, have canceled our Friend2Friend Passover Seder. While cancelling these signature programs is so disappointing, we are in the process of brainstorming ideas to keep all of our Bigs, Littles, and Friends together. In times like this where social distancing is necessary, it becomes even more important for us to invest in our matches so their connections persist and flourish.

JBBBS will remain open for our communityand our service commitment, connection and provision of mentorship and friendship will be heightened and never diminished. I am confident we will continue to have a BIG IMPACT throughout and for decades beyond this coronavirus threat.  In the final analysis, the health and well-being of our entire community is what matter most. Nevertheless, COVID-19 will not diminish our 100+ year mission of mentorship and friendship. There are simply too many vulnerable children and adults in our community who need us now more than ever.

Thank you to all who have supported us in the past – we are so grateful. At this critical time when our participants need us now more than ever, we hope you will consider making a gift to support our important work.  Be assured that we will continue to stay in close touch. You can also visit our website, www.JBBBS.org, for further updates.

Thanks to one and all for all your continued support and guidance.

Shabbat Shalom and Stay Healthy!
