On Friend 2 Friend Friday, we introduce you to one of over 50 adults with disabilities waiting to be matched in our Friend 2 Friend program. Our goal is to inspire you to volunteer or share this content with someone you know who’d make a great Friend.
He’s a 30-something who lives with his family in Hudson. He enjoys being outdoors, mini-golfing, museums, movies, attending sporting events, and, most of all, a good meal. He was matched once before in Friend 2 Friend’s Community Program, but the match ended when his Friend moved out of the area.
By virtue of geography, Benji – who lives with a mild developmental disability – admits to feeling a little isolated. “I just want to get out of the house,” he says. He drives and likes to go exploring (some of his favorite places include the Assabet River Wildlife Refuge, Garden in the Woods, and Larz Anderson Auto Museum) but he’d prefer to do it with a Friend. He’s once again turned to us for support.
He’s self-described as “pretty quiet at first but talkative once you get to know me.” His caseworker agrees: Benji is a delight.
His ideal Friend: Guy or girl, someone who enjoys watching sports and staying active. Must appreciate tasty food.
