We wrap up each week with “Friend 2 Friend Friday.” Here, we introduce you to one participant waiting on a volunteer match in our Friend 2 Friend programs for adults with disabilities. This week, it’s Donald from Watertown.
Donald is a 44-year-old Massachusetts native, who currently resides in Watertown. He rides the T to work. (Bragging rights: He can map the fastest route to anywhere in town!) He’s also quite the traveler, visiting family in New York City about every two weeks.
Don’s two loves are fine music and tasty cuisine. “There is nothing better than some Johnny Cash and a big plate of Italian food!” he says.
Don has been diagnosed with a mild developmental disability and ADD. He notes that his disabilities have made it tricky for him to strike up new friendships. Involvement in Friend 2 Friend’s Community Program will be good for him, he says, providing him with an opportunity to connect socially, share his hobbies and explore new interests.
Donald’s ideal friend: Someone of any age who enjoys fine food – or catching a game at a local pub.
