Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Boston presented the 2016 Maxwell Burstein Volunteer Award to
Barbara and Ed Shapiro.
Barbara and Ed Shapiro are family people. While their personal and professional accomplishments are many, they are proudest of their family. Their children are the center of their universe.
Since 1997, Ed has been a partner at PAR Capital Management, focusing on the media, entertainment and airline industries. He serves as Chairman of the Boards of Directors of Global Eagle Entertainment and Lumexis Corporation, and a director of Sonifi Solutions. He also serves on the Trust Board for Boston Children’s Hospital, The Rashi School, Combined Jewish Philanthropies and The Wharton Undergraduate Board.
After a 12-year career in marketing and advertising, Barbara retired as a Vice President Account Supervisor at Digitas to devote herself to her children and volunteer pursuits. She serves on the boards of Horizons for Homeless Children and The Rashi School. She is a 2014 graduate of CJP’s Acharai program, has served on the Board of Ambassadors for CJP’s Women’s Philanthropy and is co-chair of Rashi’s parent/teacher organization, Yachad.
Barbara and Ed have two children: Joshua (15), a freshman at Beaver Country Day, and Samantha (13), an eighth grader at The Rashi School. From their parents, both have witnessed and internalized the importance of community involvement and philanthropy.
