How One’s Privilege Impacts Volunteering Training

A New Training open to all JBBBS Volunteers (and prospective volunteers)

Tuesday, April 24 at the JCC, 333 Nahanton Street, Newton
6:45 – 8:30PM – Pizza and refreshments will be provided

Please join us for an interactive workshop where participants will engage in exercises and small group discussions as they are asked to consider their own identities and potential areas of privilege. JBBBS is pleased to offer this new training in collaboration with the leadership of The Second Step in Newton.

We will ask ourselves the following questions:
  1. What are some of the privileges and points of oppression I hold as an individual?
  2. What is an ally and how can I incorporate allyship into my volunteer work?
  3. How can I use my positions of privilege to become a better mentor/friend?
  4. What do I do when I can’t relate to my mentee/friend because of my privilege?
RSVP to Vanessa at administration@jbbbs.org by April 19th.

This workshop is co-facilitated by Matthew Swoveland, Executive Director & Nicole Nelson, Training & Volunteer Coordinator at The Second Step.
