Kids in Queue

“Kids in Queue” is a recurring feature on the JBBBS blog. Here, we highlight the story of one ready-to-be-matched Little Brother or Sister. This is a child who, among the nearly 40 on our current waitlist, is looking for a Big Brother or Sister like you or someone you know.

Rising third grader, Kaiti, lives in Boston but attends public school in Newton. She’s been waiting for a match in our school program since March and – by her own and her teacher’s admission – could really benefit from a Big Sister’s encouragement. Kaiti struggles socially (she doesn’t have as many friends in Newton as in her neighborhood). She lacks self-esteem and, adds her teacher, sometimes Kaiti’s efforts to win her peers’ attention, have proven disruptive in class.

Kaiti likes arts and crafts (especially coloring), ice skating and Shopkins.

Her ideal Big Sister: Someone available during her school lunch and recess (Newton with flexible lunch hour need apply!), interested in crafting and conversation. Stable. Committed.
