Kids in QueueMeet Karen. She’s one of over 50 Little Brothers and Sisters awaiting a match at JBBBS.  (You read right. Fifty!)Are you her future Big Sister? Do you know somebody who’d make a great fit for Karen? To learn more, or apply to volunteer, click here. We’re actively recruiting new Big Brothers and Sisters for waiting children  throughout the Greater Boston area!

Third-grader, Karen, who recently relocated with her parents and siblings to attend school in a new district, lives northwest of Boston. Two of her siblings have significant disabilities, and another is matched in our program. Karen, who’s been waiting for about two months for a match, aspires to have as much fun with a Big Sister as her brother has with his “Big.”

Karen enjoys bike-riding, crafting and cheerleading – and, with her future Big Sis, she aspires to play mini-golf, go trampolining, make crafts and taste-test ice cream.  Her mom describes her as “bubbly, happy and sweet.” Still, says mom, Karen has found it challenging to make friends, and she could benefit from some additional attention.

Karen’s ideal Big Sister: A personable volunteer of any age or religious background. Must be comfortable with a talkative child (Karen loves to talk) and should be prepared to forge a lasting connection. Geography: Northwest of Boston (Somerville, Cambridge, Arlington, Lexington, Belmont with car need apply).
