Each fall, JBBBS debuts its match activity calendar. Match activities – group outings planned and paid for by the agency – bring together Big and Little Brothers and Sisters one Sunday a month. And, in addition to the obvious (they’re fun), these agency-sponsored activities help defray some of the cost to volunteer and take the guesswork out of planning an outing with Little Brothers/Sisters. JBBBS Community Engagement team reports that match activities and the agency’s popular “Pick of the Month” program are selling points for our volunteers.

Says Event and Administrative Specialist, Mariel Sable, “We’ve been planning and prepping all summer so that our matches can have an exciting year of events that are bigger and better than ever before.” In August, Children’s Program matches visited the Franklin Park Zoo. Says Sable, matches enjoyed face time with one another and a host of furry friends.

In the coming months, Big and Little Brothers and Sisters will be invited to harvest pumpkins, take in a film at the Museum of Science’s OMNI Theatre, bounce at the SkyZone trampoline park, tour Fenway, prepare pizza, and mini-golf.

Adds Sable, “These events are designed not only to strengthen the Big-Little bond, but to build community for our matches.”
