My name is Lisa Kessel Freedman, and I am proud to say that I have been a member of the JBBBS family for almost five years! (How time flies!) My first exposure to the agency was on a beautiful August day at Yom Sport (one of my favorite events) and, right away, I knew this place would be the right fit for me to do my direct service volunteering. I was thrilled to join the MAGIC program and see the impact the program has on my friend Meredith. I knew I wanted deeper engagement opportunities within the agency. Timing was on my side and Jan Klein told me that the Young Professional Board was in the midst of a transition. I went to my first meeting, and I was hooked.
Being a member of the Young Professional Board has taught me so much about what it’s like to be a leader in the world of Jewish philanthropy. I have made many friends, expanded my professional network, and even worked closely with a group to develop the Young Professional strategy for JBBBS – something I am thrilled that the agency has decided to take on as one of their top priorities. I became involved with Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters to volunteer in the MAGIC program, but I am so happy that I found other ways to get involved. I have learned so much about the importance of philanthropy and can see firsthand the impact the dollars raised have on those the agency serves.
My continued commitment to the agency has led me to my next BIG task – co-chairing the JBBBS Young Professional Party on March 5 with volunteer and board member, Danielle Ain!
This will be our third annual event, and I can honestly say that each year gets better. We were completely sold out last year and have so much to look forward to when we walk into the front doors of the House of Blues on March 5!

JBBBS is an agency that has invested so much in the future of young professionals, so let’s show them why we are worth it. Sign up, bring a few friends and join us (do it before we sell out). I can’t wait to you all for your support as we dance the night away. Let’s party! Cheers!
