Shabbat Message from CEO Jeffrey K. Savit

Dear Friends and Colleagues:

I am beyond delighted to write to you as the CEO of our venerable Agency, Jewish Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Greater Boston. Each step I have taken in my professional journey seems to have led me here. It certainly feels bashert to “come home” to a mission and organization that I have admired and loved so much since I first was appointed to the JBBBS board in 1994.

It is appropriate, as JBBBS crosses into its second century, that we think about those who have stewarded the Agency through its first 100 years, connecting thousands of young people with caring adults, and supporting the most vulnerable in our community. I feel deep gratitude to those who have left this important legacy of impact and compassion. Their achievements will inspire me every day and challenge me to think broadly about what is possible in our next century. How fortunate I am to have had this sacred baton passed to me.
JBBBS is an essential yet often “under the radar” community resource. We must raise our profile and increase understanding about what JBBBS is and what we do today. I look forward to working with all of you to expand our JBBBS community and ensure we are positioned for future success.

At the core, I believe what JBBBS needs most is for us to collectively focus on empathetic relationship building and philanthropic development, both of which center around all our stakeholders feeling valued and heard. The indispensable work we do on a daily basis is made possible because of our generous supporters, dedicated volunteers, glorious families, and unparalleled, skilled staff, all of whom give so much to ensure we fulfill our mission. I am committed to leading through collaboration and enhancing our infrastructure in order to deepen our impact, expand our reach and expertise, and grow our revenue base. In so doing, I look forward to identifying and engaging other organizations and individuals who both espouse our values and will work in partnership with us to achieve our shared goals.

I am deeply grateful for the trust the Board of Directors, Endowment Board, and my new JBBBS professional colleagues have placed in me as I begin my professional stewardship of our beloved Agency. I pledge to provide the leadership necessary to move us smoothly and with purpose into our second century of service. What joyful and meaningful work I now have the privilege of performing at JBBBS. I strongly believe, and suspect that each of you do as well, that the needs of our children and the most vulnerable in our community must come first. Our doors are open to anyone who needs us. JBBBBS represents the ultimate in Jewish values and practices, and I have never been more ready for this unbelievable opportunity. Please partner with me on this thrilling journey, and of course, please mark your calendars to celebrate with us at our 100th Centennial Celebration at the Boston Intercontinental Hotel on May 14.

All my very best wishes and thanks for your support.

Shabbat Shalom
