Last year, a Friend 2 Friend community match rode tandem, 25 miles, in the Rodman Ride for Kids. This year, Jessi and Julia are at it again – and going for 50. Julia, who is also matched in MAGIC, is excited to be joined, for the first time, by volunteer, Tina.

The Rodman Ride for Kids is an umbrella-matching gift charity raising funds for youth-focused social service organizations, including JBBBS. As an affiliate agency, JBBBS fundraises, year-round, culminating with the Ride: a 25, 50 or 100-mile, non-competitive cycling tour. Funds are raised through corporate sponsorships and ridership. In turn, the Ride matches funds at a rate of 6%. With expenses associated with the Ride at less than 2.2% of total revenue, Rodman Ford underwrites them all. Reports JBBBS’ Advancement Department, the Ride proves to be among the agency’s most important fundraisers.

Jessi and Julia are training hard. On going for 50, Julia reports, “I’m feeling nervous but Jessi makes me feel calmer.” And despite the nerves, the pair reports having a great time training. They’re practicing balance and, their favorite, gliding.
