Welcoming JBBBS’ New Board Chair, Evan Grossman
What first inspired you to get involved with JBBBS?
I’ve always admired the mission of mentorship and the stability and companionship it provides. JBBBS embodies that so perfectly. I had heard wonderful things about the agency, and a serendipitous professional interaction with the amazing Judy Shankman solidified my decision to get involved as a volunteer.

You’ve served both as a board member and a volunteer in the Friend 2 Friend program. How have those experiences shaped your connection to the organization?
Serving as both a volunteer in the F2F program and as a board member has been incredibly fulfilling. The hours I spend with my Friend Seth are some of the most enjoyable and rewarding parts of my month. We have fun, usually eat pizza, and simply enjoy each other’s company. Those experiences also shape the perspective I bring as a board member and now incoming board chair, reminding me to keep the mission front and center in all decisions.
As you step into the role of Board Chair, what excites you most about this opportunity?
I’m humbled and thrilled to become Board Chair this fall. There is so much to look forward to: implementing our new strategic plan, finding innovative ways to serve both the Jewish community of Eastern Massachusetts and the broader community, and making the meaningful connections that change lives.

What are your top priorities for JBBBS over the next few years?
Our mission remains the same: making a difference in the lives of children and adults with disabilities one match at a time, guided by Jewish values. My goal is to support the vital work that Lauren Korn and her talented staff do every day, and to ensure we use every resource available to serve as many participants as possible. Raising critical funds will remain essential, and we’ll continue to share our inspiring message widely to bring more supporters into our community.
How do you hope JBBBS’ programs will continue to evolve to meet the needs of our community?
I’m excited about the direction our programming team is taking through the implementation of our strategic plan. Educating volunteers and participants in Jewish culture and values is already having a remarkable impact. Being more intentionally Jewish, celebrating holidays with the greater community, and reaching more children and adults with disabilities remain guiding priorities for our staff.
When you think about the impact JBBBS has had, what makes you most proud to be involved?
What inspires me most is how deeply everyone, staff, volunteers, and board members, is connected to the mission. At board meetings, retreats, or even on simple check-in calls, the “Mission Moments” often move us to tears. Hearing how profoundly a young life can be changed, and knowing that all involved see their own lives enriched, fills me with pride to be part of JBBBS.
Outside of JBBBS, what brings you joy or inspires you in your daily life?
While I always say JBBBS is my favorite thing to talk about, I also love traveling with my wife Sarah and our children, Benjy and Ella. I play as much golf as I can while running Designers Services, a receiving and white-glove delivery business serving the Interior Design community. We also love being part of the Schechter Boston community, where I was once a student and where my kids have had the chance to learn and grow over the last five years.
What a great person!
I am so proud of you!!
We are so proud of the good work you do and the role model you are to your children!
Congratulations! Wishing you great success as you lead and inspire at JBBBS.
